I didn’t just create RECLAIM & Rise - I lived it.
Hi, I’m Liz Applegate, a certified coach who’s been helping women shift their mindset, habits, and identity since 2015.
For nearly a decade, I’ve taught others how to create lasting change but I wasn’t always applying those same tools to my own health journey.
Like so many women, I put myself last for years. And when nothing else seemed to stick, I decided to try something different.
In 2021, I made the choice to begin using a GLP-1 medication.
Not as a quick fix - but as a real shot at change.
Still, I was nervous.
Would this just be another failed attempt?
Would I fall back into old patterns?
Would I ever trust myself to maintain progress long-term?
So I made a pact with myself: If I was going to do this, I’d do it differently.
And while the number on the scale dropped, so did my energy, my confidence, and my sense of control.
I lost weight quickly - too quickly.
I lost muscle. I lost strength.
I also noticed that even with the scale going down, the relationship I had with my body wasn’t reflecting how I thought it would.
And I realized I’d been outsourcing my progress to a medication without building the skills or habits to sustain it.
That was my wake-up call.
So I did the deep work:
I rebuilt my nutrition from the inside out.
I learned how to fuel and support my body - not deprive it.
I stopped waiting to feel “ready” and started showing up as the woman I wanted to become.
I ditched the all-or-nothing thinking.
I let go of the “I’ll start again tomorrow” mindset.
And I finally made peace with my process.
